SandhyStudio Tracker Tools — User Guide

How to Use Your Personal Tracker

Step-by-step guide to install, use, and keep your data safe — on any device, any browser.

How Your Data Works

Before anything else, understand how this tracker saves your data — no login, no cloud, no server.

Your Data Lives in Your Browser

Storage Type
localStorage — saved directly in your browser on your device
Auto-Save
Every action saves instantly — no Save button needed
Privacy
100% private — data never sent to any server or cloud
Persistence
Survives browser close, restart and shutdown — stays until YOU clear it

Setup on Android Phone

1

Open Chrome browser on your Android phone

Use Chrome for the best experience. Firefox and Edge also work but the install option may look different.

2

Go to the tracker URL

Type or tap the tracker link in the address bar. The tracker opens like a normal website.

3

Tap the 3-dot menu (top right) → select 'Add to Home Screen'

This installs the tracker as an app icon on your home screen — no App Store needed.

You may also see a bottom banner ‘Add to Home Screen’ — tap that too.

4

Give it a name and tap 'Add'

Name it anything: ‘SEO Tracker’, ‘Study OS’. The icon will appear on your home screen.

5

Open from the home screen icon — start tracking

The tracker opens fullscreen like a real app. All data saves automatically every time you tap.

Tip: The icon opens the tracker in a standalone window with no browser bar visible.

Setup on iPhone or iPad

1

Open Safari browser on your iPhone or iPad

This step MUST use Safari. Chrome on iOS cannot add to home screen as a proper app. Use Safari only.

2

Go to the tracker URL

Type the tracker link in Safari’s address bar and open it.

3

Tap the Share button (box with arrow pointing up)

Find this at the bottom center of Safari on iPhone, or at the top on iPad.

The Share icon looks like a square with an upward arrow. Scroll down in the share sheet if needed.

4

Tap 'Add to Home Screen'

Scroll through share options until you see ‘Add to Home Screen’. Tap it.

5

Name it and tap 'Add'

Give it a name like ‘My Tracker’ and tap Add at the top right. The icon appears on your home screen.

6

Always open from the home screen icon

Open the tracker from your home screen icon — NOT from Safari directly. This ensures data is stored correctly.

Important: always use the same icon. Opening from Safari directly uses a different storage space.

Setup on Laptop or Desktop

1

Open Chrome or Edge on your laptop or desktop

Both Chrome and Edge support installing web apps to your desktop. Firefox works but without the install feature.

2

Go to the tracker URL

Open the tracker link in the address bar.

3

Look for the install icon in the address bar

In Chrome and Edge you’ll see a small install icon at the right side of the address bar. Click it and select ‘Install’.

No install icon? Go to the 3-dot menu → ‘Install [tracker name]’ or ‘Add to desktop’.

How to Install the Tracker to Home Screen / Desktop

1. Click the “Cast, save, and share” menu
(located inside the three-dot menu in Chrome)

2. Then look for the option:

“Install page as app”
(the name may vary slightly depending on your Chrome version)

3. Click that option

4. A small popup window will appear
→ click Install

5. After the installation is complete, you may see a notification in the bottom-left corner:

“Would you like to pin it to the taskbar?”

Click Yes

And done 🎉

4

Click 'Install' in the popup

A small popup appears asking to install. Click Install. A desktop shortcut is created.

5

Open from the desktop shortcut — start tracking

From now on open from the desktop icon. It opens as a standalone window without the browser bar.

Tip: Pin it to your taskbar for one-click access every day.

Must Do & Don't

Follow these rules to keep your data safe and your experience smooth.

Must Do

Always open from the same icon or shortcut you created

Use the Export button to backup your data at least once a week

Save backup files in Google Drive or a safe cloud folder

Use Import to restore data when switching devices

Use the same browser consistently on each device

On iPhone, always open from the Home Screen icon — not Safari

If you use multiple devices, Export from one and Import to the other

Don't

Don’t use Incognito / Private mode — data disappears when you close it

Don’t clear browser cache or site data — this erases your tracker data

Don’t expect data to sync between devices automatically — it won’t

Don’t switch browsers without exporting first

Don’t uninstall the browser without backing up first

Don’t assume data is in the cloud — it only lives on your device

Don’t open tracker from two different places — pick one and stick to it

How to Backup & Restore

Export saves all your data as a single file you can restore anytime, on any device.

1

Click the 'Export' button in the tracker toolbar

A file like tracker_backup_2025-05-21.json downloads automatically to your device.

Store it in Google Drive, iCloud, or a folder you will remember.

2

To restore: Click 'Import' and select your backup file

All your previous data loads back instantly. Works on any device as long as you have the file.

3

Recommended: Export every Friday

If you use the tracker daily, export once a week minimum. Keep the last 3 backup files so you can go back if needed.

Pro tip: name files with dates — tracker_backup_2025-05-16.json

Your privacy stays yours

This tracker stores everything locally on your device — total privacy, zero server dependency. The tradeoff: you are in charge of keeping your data safe. Export regularly. Store backups in Google Drive or iCloud. That is all you need to do.

Remember: Your Data, Your Responsibility

This tracker stores all data locally on your device using your browser’s local storage. SandhyStudio does not collect, access, monitor, or store any personal data from users who visit or use this tracker. No data is transmitted to external servers.

This tracker is provided free of charge for the benefit of the community and personal productivity purposes. Because all data is stored locally on your own device, you are fully responsible for maintaining, exporting, and backing up your data regularly.

SandhyStudio is not liable for any data loss, corruption, deletion, browser reset, device failure, software issues, or unexpected errors that may result in the loss of stored information. We strongly recommend exporting and backing up your data regularly using services such as Google Drive or iCloud.

Common Questions

I closed the browser — is my data still there?

Yes. localStorage persists across browser sessions. Your data is exactly where you left it — as long as you use the same browser on the same device and have not cleared cache.

Can I use the tracker on phone AND laptop?

Yes, but data is NOT synced between them automatically. Each device has its own separate data. To move data between devices, use Export on one device and Import on the other.

I accidentally cleared browser history. Is my data gone?

It depends. ‘Clear history’ usually does not touch localStorage. But ‘Clear site data’ or ‘Clear all browsing data’ often does. This is why regular Export backups are important.

I got a new phone. How do I move my data?

On your old phone, open the tracker and tap Export. Save the file to Google Drive or email it to yourself. On your new phone, open the tracker, tap Import, and select that file.

Does the tracker work offline?

Yes — once loaded at least once, the tracker works fully offline. All saving and reading happens on your device. You only need internet the very first time you open it.

Is my data visible to SandhyStudio or anyone else?

No. Your data never leaves your device. Stored only in your browser’s localStorage — not sent to any server, not visible to SandhyStudio, not stored in any database. Total privacy.

How much data can it hold?

Most browsers allow 5–10 MB per domain. For text-based tracker data this is more than enough for years of daily use. You will very likely never hit the limit.
